Take A Walk - Passion Pit

Three years in the making and Passion Pit are back. Needless to say on an instrumental level the band have only progressed while keeping that infectious synth and thumping beat. I’m not entirely convinced with the lyrics but I can see the progression thats been attempted and the band keeps me hitting the replay button with that chorus. A good start heading towards the release of Gossamer. I can’t wait.

KO KO - Float

A gorgeous dream of a track that kicks off with an infectious whistle and floats on. The problem with it is that it’s such a calm track that it almost goes unnoticed forcing me to replay it several times, which thinking about it is probably a good thing. Lovely stuff.

Twin Shadow - Five Seconds

A tune akin to the best of the 80’s with influences of The Smiths and Joy Division throughout the track. All the same it feels incredibly modern at the same time and is insanely infectious. Well and truly peachy.

Three Blind Wolves - Hotel

I only recently came across these guys and after a few listens this tune is my favourite so far. I love the way it builds up and up frantically before dropping into an upbeat country verse. The vocals remind me of a Connor Oberst if he was Scottish, which is ideal seeing as these guys are from Glasgow. Really nice stuff and a proper journey of a song.

Avicii - Levels (Reversed - George Monev Edit)

I’ve posted this not as a review but merely to acknowledge Avicii’s abilities as an artist considering he can create a song thats just as good backwards as it is forwards. Not sure many other songs can do that.

Wolf Gang - The King and all of his Men

I’ve loved this band for a while now but they’re still nowhere near as big as I think they deserve to be. This song is Dance Pop at its very best and there’s really not much more to say than that.

Also check out the equally brilliant ‘Lions in Cages’ from their album Suego Faults: http://soundcloud.com/wolfgang/lions-in-cages

Van She - Idea of Happiness

Cracker of a track by the Aussie group as they play with poppy synths and dreamy electro chords before throwing in an absolute peach of a chorus. Excellent Stuff.

Vinyl Jacket - Red Light

Quality spot of what the band call diesel-pop, so damn addictive its insane. Repeat, repeat, repeat. I predict big things for these guys.

Bahamas - Lost in the Light

Beautiful guitar, beautiful vocals, beautiful lyrics, what can I say other than it’s bloody beautiful. A Perfect Summer Tune

Miike Snow - Paddling Out

Classic Miike, I’m glad to have them back in my life again but nothing on the album quite hits the heights of Animal and Black & Blue. Still a damn good tune nonetheless.
